Now what? That is the question Las Vegas Raiders star edge rusher is asking himself following the Baltimore Ravens’ shocking decision to back out of an agreed-to trade in the heels of a failed physical.

It is also the question NFL teams that were previously interested in trading for Crosby are mulling. Should they trade for him now? And if so, how much should they give up? However, it doesn’t appear to be something the Dallas Cowboys are considering even after being aggressive in their pursuit for Crosby.

There are two likely reasons for it, but let’s start with the one that involves the latest intel stemming from the Ravens’ medical review of Crosby.

Cowboys have inside knowledge of Crosby’s review

Speaking on the unexpected fiasco on ESPN, insider Adam Schefter revealed Cowboys head team physician Dr. Dan Cooper was involved in the Ravens’ review of Crosby.

“My understanding is that there were multiple doctors that reviewed his MRI scans, there were doctors that examined him, including Dr. Daniel Cooper, the Dallas Cowboys doctor,” Schefter said on live TV. “Many teams and players rely on Dr. Cooper’s expertise.”

If Dr. Cooper was involved in a review that resulted in one of the most shocking developments in recent NFL history, it’s highly unlikely the Cowboys end up being the team to pull the trigger on a deal.

Now, is it possible Dr. Cooper disagrees with the overall decision made by Baltimore? Yes. Is it possible the Cowboys, knowing the same things the Ravens do, are still willing to make a trade at lowered compensation? Sure.

And yet, it seems highly unlikely. Not to mention, conflict of interest concerns would rise from a Cowboys trade.

Rashan Gary keeping the Cowboys from making a trade

Not going for Crosby because of insight into medical concerns makes perfect sense, even if it’s disappointing to hear. However, the other reason why the Cowboys appear to be out on the star defender is a little bit more frustrating.

According to NFL Network’s Jane Slater, a Cowboys source says the team “moved on with Rashan Gary, etc.”

I’m not sure how that adds up. Dallas offered a 2026 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick for Crosby last weekend. They gave up a 2027 fourth rounder for Gary. These trades should be mutually exclusive, especially because they’re in different tiers in terms of caliber. Crosby is an All-Pro menace. Gary is a starter, but not much else yet.

Not to mention, Gary’s contract offers room for negotiating a pay cut. The money shouldn’t be an issue. If he was the only reason why the Cowboys aren’t going for Crosby, it would come off as a sorry excuse. Dr. Cooper’s insight, however, is different.

Things change quickly in the NFL, as we just remembered. But for now, the Cowboys appear to be out on Crosby. The question now is, what kind of offers will the Raiders receive for their star defender now?

And more importantly, does the price tag drop to the point where Dallas is comfortable making a push?
