On Tuesday evening, the Baltimore Ravens backed out of their agreed trade to land superstar defensive end Maxx Crosby. This unexpected reversal adds another twist to the Raiders’ busy offseason, as on the first day of free agency, Vegas was very active and spent heavily.

Raiders talked to Dallas about the Crosby trade for a great defensive tackle

According to the Ravens, Crosby did not pass his physical, so he remains with Las Vegas. Meanwhile, some NFL insiders believe the Ravens simply preferred to hang on to their draft picks, perhaps with an eye on Trey Hendrickson instead. But there seems to be a world where Crosby could have ended up on the Dallas Cowboys.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz mentioned on Wednesday that the Cowboys discussed trading defensive lineman Osa Odighizuwa to the Raiders in a package for Maxx Crosby last week before the deal ended up in Baltimore. There are rumors that Dallas couldn’t match the two first-round picks Baltimore offered, but instead offered a first-round and a second-round pick in 2027. That obviously didn’t happen, and the Cowboys just sent Odighizuwa to the San Francisco 49ers.

With the trade off the table, speculation swirled about whether the Raiders would keep Crosby or look for a new trade partner. On Wednesday night, Crosby silenced the rumors with a clear message to the league.

“Everything Happens For A Reason. Believe Nothing You Hear & Half Of What You See. Im A Raider. I’m Back. Run That Sh*t,” Crosby wrote on Twitter.

Crosby’s statement suggests he’ll remain with the Raiders through 2026 and 2027 since he has a contractual deadline on Friday that guarantees his 2027 base pay. Teams that hesitated or refused to make a deal may soon regret their decision—Crosby made that point loud and clear. He’s coming into 2026 with a huge chip on his shoulder, and when the Raiders play the Ravens in 2027, it should be fun.
