ESPN’s ‘Best Fit’ landing spot for David Njoku in free agency won’t sit well with Cleveland Browns fans

Browns fans wouldn’t want to see David Njoku land in this spot for the 2026 season.

Free agency so far for the Cleveland Browns has been about overhauling the offense, specifically the offensive line.

Cleveland has added former Los Angeles Chargers G Zion Johnson, former Green Bay Packers C Elgton Jenkins, and re-signed G Teven Jenkins. These moves came a week after the Browns traded for OT Tytus Howard from the Houston Texans.

The Browns also signed a blocking tight end with Jack Stoll joining the team. Cleveland is set to say goodbye to TE David Njoku, who remains available as one of the top free agents.

ESPN says the Baltimore Ravens are the best fit for TE David Njoku

In a recent exercise by ESPN, they named the best fits for the top available free agents. Bill Barnwell picked the AFC North rival Ravens to be the fit for Njoku.

“While Mark Andrews was re-signed to be the move tight end in Baltimore, the Ravens lost Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar over the first week of free agency. The Ravens signed Durham Smythe to help fill in for Kolar, and I wouldn’t be surprised if general manager Eric DeCosta used a Day 3 pick on a blocking tight end to develop over the next few years. But Njoku would be taking over for Likely here as the second tight end in Baltimore’s offense.” — Bill Barnwell, ESPN

Njoku signing with Baltimore would be a punch to the gut for Browns fans. The former first-round pick embraced Cleveland as much as anyone has in the last couple of decades and was very beloved in the city.  The fast rise of Harold Fannin Jr. made Njoku expendable, and that’s the simple reason why the Browns had to move on.

In 2025, Njoku caught 33 passes for 293 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 12 games. It was a bit of a regression for the former Pro Bowl tight end who will turn 30 in July. Njoku missed a combined 11 games over the last two seasons, but he can still be a weapon for defenses to worry about.

2023 was the best season for Njoku in his nine-year career when he caught 81 passes for 882 receiving yards and six touchdowns to be named a Pro Bowler for the first time in his career.

Njoku only got to play in three playoff games with the Browns and could be looking to land in a spot where he’d win at this point in his career. Baltimore would be an intriguing landing spot for Njoku, but definitely not one Browns fans want to see.
