The “buzz” is growing around the Tennessee Vols in the battle for an elite in-state four-star recruit.

For the last several months, the Miami Hurricanes and the Vanderbilt Commodores have been the teams “trending” for 2027 four-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman.

Bowman, 6-foot-1/174 pounds from Brentwood, TN, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 7 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee. He’s also rated as the No. 41 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

Miami and Tennessee have given Bowman plenty to think about, but according to On3’s Chad Simmons, it’s the Vols that are now trending for the four-star wide receiver.

“He was close to committing again in February and much of the buzz at the time surrounded Vanderbilt,” wrote Simmons. “Miami also built some momentum, but the school generating the most chatter now is Tennessee. Bowman is scheduled to return to Knoxville on March 28. Clark Lea and the staff at Vanderbilt remain firmly in the mix and will host him on March 18. As the temperatures rise this spring, the buzz around Tennessee continues to grow in Bowman’s recruitment.”

Bowman, who was committed to Oregon at one point, delayed his commitment because he just wasn’t ready to make a decision yet.

“I am just not ready,” said Bowman to On3. “I have had some big conversations with schools the last few weeks, and I am going to push my commitment date until further notice.”

Tennessee wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope has been on a heater the last couple of recruiting cycles. It would be a surprise at this point if Bowman doesn’t end up in orange and white.
