Washington Commanders receive much-needed clarity on upcoming risky decision from an unexpected source
The Commanders have a difficult decision to make regarding one soon-to-be free agent, and their decision is clearer after recent news.
This has already been an eventful offseason for the Washington Commanders, but there are still plenty of fireworks left with free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft.
After overhauling the roster during an active free agency, the Commanders still have a few holes remaining, including the WR room after missing on Alec Pierce and Romero Doubs. There’s one clear answer everyone expects, but it comes with risk, and the Commanders should feel better about the possible outcome after an unexpected source speaks on the situation.
49ers TE George Kittle provides clarity on the Brandon Aiyuk situation
The Commanders are expected to pursue WR Brandon Aiyuk once he’s released from the San Francisco 49ers, but it’s a move that could backfire with how the whole situation has played out. Aiyuk and the 49ers are at a standstill while everyone waits for the inevitable move, and people are trying to decide who is the victim in the situation.
TE George Kittle was on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast, where he was asked about Aiyuk and what really happened. As always, Kittle kept it real and gave his thoughts about what really happened.
“Speaking totally freely. . .the last time I saw Aiyuk was because he was kind of at training camp, kind of not,” Kittle said. “And then he was like, in and out of the building throughout, like, those first couple weeks, and I started going out to see him, like in the weight room, because he didn’t go into the locker room or the trainer anymore. So he would just go to the weight room to do his rehab.”
“I would just go in there and talk to him because I didn’t go to meetings or anything like that,” Kittle added. “So I just talked to him, let him know that, ‘hey, I’m your guy, just like you know I love you’. And then literally, like, I started doing that, I’ll call it week six. I don’t really know what week it was, and then, literally, a week later, that story came out, like, all the crazy stuff, and then I didn’t see him again.”
Thoughts on George Kittle’s comments
It sounds to me like Aiyuk was doing the rehab he was supposed to, even though he may not have been the textbook teammate by hanging around everyone in the locker room, but that’s his decision. Aiyuk didn’t disappear until the massive story dropped in November that the team and Aiyuk would be heading towards a separation.
Honestly, it’s just a broken relationship between the two sides, and blame needs to go both ways. The 49ers are holding Aiyuk, hoping someone will trade for him, which won’t happen. He will eventually be released and sign a one-year prove-it contract with the Commanders and be back with QB Jayden Daniels.
