Cleveland Browns could end up on the benefiting end of NFL blockbuster trade in the future with door now possibly open
The Browns could make sense to be calling the Denver Broncos after the latest big news in the NFL.
The Cleveland Browns have made heavy investments within the offense over the last couple of weeks, but they haven’t addressed one key position.
Cleveland badly needs to improve at wide receiver where they’re currently set to start Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, and Isaiah Bond. The draft figured to be a spot where the Browns invest a premium pick into the position, but the trade market is where they should continue to keep an eye on.
The Denver Broncos may have the answer to the Cleveland Browns’ wants in a trade
Denver made a splash move on Tuesday to acquire WR Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins for a first-round pick and more. Waddle enters a wide receiver room that’s suddenly a bit crowded. Courtlad Sutton, Pat Bryant, Troy Franklin, and Marvin Mims Jr. were already in Denver. The Browns should be interested in Franklin or Mims as players to give them a boost on offense.
Both players have shown more in the NFL through a combined five seasons than anyone on the Browns roster has outside of Jeudy. Franklin just had 709 receiving yards and six touchdowns in his second season. Franklin is a smaller build wide receiver but would be an ideal fit to Jeudy and Carnell Tate out of the draft for Cleveland.
Mims is more of a fourth wideout and an excellent return man on special teams. The fourth-year wideout led the NFL with 452 punt return yards last season and was able to house one. A player who is going to float between 300 and 500 yards a season.
Todd Monken would be able to do a multitude of things with both players within the offense. Cleveland simply needs more talent and more offensive players who can create explosive plays. It won’t take much to get either player, you’re talking about a Day 3 pick at most.
If either player is deemed the odd man out in an offense with Waddle and Sutton now the two top targets, Cleveland should be interested. Sometimes it’s the moves after the big move where other teams can benefit. Perhaps it’s the Browns here.
