Some things were said in Knoxville this week that probably won’t sit well with Colorado head coach Deion Sanders.

The Tennessee Vols inadvertently created a massive headache for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes this week.

For the second straight offseason, the Vols landed a former Colorado player out of the transfer portal.

A year ago, cornerback Colton Hood transferred from Colorado to Tennessee.

This offseason, it was quarterback Ryan Staub who transferred from Colorado to Tennessee.

Staub met with reporters this week in Knoxville for the first time since transferring to Tennessee and he made some comments that didn’t paint Colorado in the best light.

Ryan Staub’s comments about the coaching he’s receiving at Tennessee go viral

Staub told reporters earlier this week that he’s received more coaching in his first few months at Tennessee than he did his previous three seasons of college football.

“In my three years of playing college football, I haven’t had as much coaching as I’ve had in the first month that I’ve been here,” said Staub.

“It’s a lot of special coaching. I haven’t been coached this much. I’m just trying to learn as much as I can and improve.”

Those comments generated plenty of headlines, with numerous fans and analysts suggesting that Staub was taking a shot at Sanders and Colorado.

But I’m not sure that was the case. It seemed more like Staub was being effusive in his praise of Tennessee’s coaching staff than taking a shot at Colorado.

Staub, in fact, made sure to take time to praise Sanders during the same media session.

“Coach Prime, I’ll always remember all the memories I had with him, and with his program. Just an unbelievable person,” said Staub of Sanders. “He impacted a lot of people on that Colorado team. Made good connections with a lot of those players and especially with me. Coach Prime is awesome.”

Staub is full of positive vibes. I don’t think he was trying to throw shade at Colorado with his comments about Tennessee’s coaching staff.

But that one clip of his comments is what’s getting all the attention this week, and it’s undoubtedly creating a headache for Sanders and the Buffaloes.
