The Lions are bringing back defensive lineman who could have a much bigger role in 2026
The Lions may look to have him on the field a lot more in 2026
I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been banging this drum since the 2024 season when the Lions claimed him after Thanksgiving. This guy can play, and now that he’s grown more, it’s time to give him some more time on the field. The Lions might feel the same way.
Lions are bringing back defensive tackle Myles Adams
Way back in Week 4 of the 2024 season, the Detroit Lions played the Seattle Seahawks at home on Monday Night Football. The Lions beat the heck out of the Seahawks in that game, but not everyone on the Seattle defense had a rough night. Adams actually had a good game. Two tackles and a pressure on 20 snaps, and a 74.4 Pro Football Focus grade.
The Lions claimed him a few weeks later, and he had a great night against the Green Bay Packers at home, where he played 19 snaps, but they were all pretty important snaps. The big moment was a huge tackle on Josh Jacobs that set up a Packers punt.
Since then, the Lions have been growing him off the practice squad, and while he didn’t play a game in 2025, that didn’t stop the staff from talking about him.
“I’m watching (Lions DL) Myles Adams. He had a heck of a practice this week on scout team, and those guys need to know – and I think they understand – we watch it all the time. ” Loans had coach Dan Campbell said in October. “And you may be – you’re one play away from getting the next guy up.”
The Lions see something in him, and that’s why he’s coming back for a third season. That and because he’s very cheap. 2026 could be the year that the Lions give him that spot on the 53-man roster, and he becomes a run-stopping specialist off the bench. If he can play 20 snaps a game and stuff some runs, that’s big for him and the Lions. I’ve long thought he can do it. Let’s see if it happens in 2026.
