Former Tennessee Vols baseball infielder Andrew Fischer has had quite the spring.

Fischer represented Italy in the World Baseball Classic, hitting .357 with a home run and five RBIs in four games.

The former Vol has also had a solid spring training with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fischer, a first-round pick by the Brewers in 2025, isn’t expected to be part of the Brewers’ opening day roster, but it probably won’t be long before he’s in the big leagues after seeing the at bat he took against one of the most dominant arms in baseball on Saturday.

San Diego Padres closer Mason Miller has been almost unhittable at times over the last couple of years.

Miller pitched four innings in the World Baseball Classic, striking out 10 while allowing zero hits or earned runs.

The flamethrowing righty also recorded a 0.77 ERA last season in 22 games.

Suffice it to say, Miller is the last guy most hitters want to face in the box.

But that didn’t stop Fischer from having success against Miller in a spring training game.

Fischer lined a 112.4 mph double off a 102 mph fastball from Miller on Saturday.

According to Javik Blake, a broadcaster for the Brewers Double-A affiliate, the 112.4 mph double from Fischer was the hardest hit ball against Miller since May 7, 2023 when Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez hit a 112.4 mph home run off the closer.

It may only be a spring training game, but 102 mph is hard to hit regardless of whether it’s the regular season.

I have a feeling Fischer won’t be in the minor leagues for long. We should see the 21 year old in the big leagues sooner rather than later.
