Patriots give Drake Maye what he needs to prevent how they lost Super Bowl LX from happening again in a new 2026 NFL mock draft
New 2026 NFL mock draft has the Patriots learning from their Super Bowl loss to the Seahawks and trying to fix it.
The New England Patriots took a larger step forward as a team than anyone was predicting in 2025. They went from one of the worst teams in the league to the AFC champions and fell just short of winning Super Bowl LX.
Their 29-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks wasn’t even as close as the two-score difference would make you believe. The Patriots’ offensive line had no answers for the Seahawks’ dynamic defensive line, and as a result, New England fell short of reaching the NFL mountain top last season.
A new mock draft from A to Z Sports has the Patriots trying to avoid the same mistakes that cost them a Super Bowl win last season by landing a high upside offensive lineman.
Patriots select Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor in a new mock draft
“I believe Proctor can play guard or tackle, but his best long-term outlook is likely to kick inside, similar to what Mekhi Becton has done. He would create immediate movement at the point of attack for New England, while also serving as an upgrade for pass protection along the interior, something Drake Maye missed throughout the playoffs.” – Rob Gregson, A to Z Sports NFL Draft analyst

The Patriots’ offensive line let quarterback Drake Maye down in the Super Bowl; there really isn’t a better way to say it at this point. One player in particular who didn’t rise to the occasion was the team’s 2025 first-round pick, Will Campbell.
Campbell allowed five sacks in the regular season and 26 QB pressures, which wasn’t a great showing for the rookie. He then allowed eight pressures in the Super Bowl and finished with a rough 32.9 pass block grade. This has led to major discussion this offseason about whether Campbell would be best suited to move inside to guard.
Now add in Proctor to the equation, and both players have the ability to play tackle and guard. Proctor would be able to push Campbell in training camp for the starting left tackle job, and whoever falls short there can easily move inside to guard and help improve the Patriots’ offensive line for 2026 and beyond.
Proctor is also a unique prospect because at Alabama, he was used on offense for trick plays at a pretty high rate. So maybe Josh McDaniels would have some ideas on how to utilize the Crimson Tide tackle in that manner as well, to add some mystery to the offense.
