The New York Giants obviously underwent some major changes this offseason, bringing Super Bowl champion head coach John Harbaugh on board to run the team as they head into the future.

In his first offseason, the team added some significant talent throughout their roster, including tight end Isaiah Likely and linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. The team is still hard at work, though, looking for ways they can improve the roster.

That is evident in the news that they are bringing in a veteran free-agent defensive lineman with over a decade of NFL experience for a visit.

Giants are set to host 11-year NFL veteran free agent defensive tackle Shelby Harris for a visit

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Giants hosted free agent defensive tackle Shelby Harris for a visit on Tuesday. Harris has played for four teams in the NFL over 11 total seasons, with his most recent stop being with the Cleveland Browns, whom he played for in each of the past three seasons.

He has played in 146 games and logged 89 starts during his career, recording 28.5 sacks and 58 tackles for loss. Harris is a reliable interior defensive lineman who has also succeeded as an edge rusher in certain schemes. For the Giants, he would be able to slot in as a depth player who can fill in when needed at either spot.

With a nearly entirely new coaching staff, it would make sense for New York to prioritize adding veterans as depth due to their ability to pick up on the playbook quickly and set the tone for younger players. Harris would be a great role model on the field, for example, for second-year player Darius Alexander.

We will have to wait and see if anything comes of this visit with the Giants and Harris. You would expect that if things go well, both sides move quickly to get a deal agreed upon to make the Giants the fifth stop of his career and the home for his 12th season in the NFL.
