The Alabama Crimson Tide is back on the practice field after spring break last week, and the intensity is being ramped up ahead of the annual A-Day spring scrimmage, set for April 11. There have been solid returns on new additions on defense, and the offensive line is coming together.

What everyone really wants to know, however, is what the quarterback situation looks like and how the freshman skill players are coming along. Well, we received an answer to the latter question via a video release from the Crimson Tide, and it’s promising.

Alabama freshman WR Cederian Morgan turns heads in latest video release

Morgan is a true freshman from Alexander City, Alabama, but he’s not your typical freshman. Before Ryan Williams burst onto the scene in 2024, he, too, made plays in spring and fall camp, but he came to Alabama at a little over 6-foot and 170 pounds, soaking wet.

Morgan enters the program at 6-4 and 223 pounds. He is a physical specimen who is already showing the ability to win vertically against one of the better defensive backfields in the country. The best part is, we have precedent and reason to believe that Morgan can not only contribute in year one, but be a significant factor in Alabama’s offense.

Why Cederian Morgan could be Ryan Williams 2.0

Kalen DeBoer’s offense isn’t afraid to get young players out there, and more importantly, doesn’t shy away from featuring them. In 2024, Williams became the focal point despite there being veterans in the group.

In 2025, when Williams struggled with drops, it was Lotzier Brooks who stepped up and helped bring the Crimson Tide back from being down 17 on the road against the Oklahoma Sooners in the College Football Playoff.

It’s not a stretch to say that Morgan could surpass what both Williams and Brooks did as a freshman. The quarterback play in Tuscaloosa has the chance to be the best we have seen under DeBoer, and no WR since Julio Jones has walked into the facilities at Alabama as a freshman with the same presence as Morgan.
