Rams set to meet with potential ideal Day 3 offensive playmaker to upgrade key positional room
The Rams are meeting with a popular 2026 NFL Draft prospect.
The Los Angeles Rams haven’t hidden their interest in adding to their wide receiver room over this offseason. It’s been a popular mock draft pick for the team, and they’ve been involved in some big storylines at the position this offseason, most notably the A.J. Brown trade talks a couple of weeks ago.
They have started making the rounds at different Pro Days and meeting with different prospects across the country. One of those recent announced private workouts is with Texas Tech wide receiver Caleb Douglas, the Red Raiders’ leading receiver from their College Football Playoff run this season. The Rams don’t often meet with prospects like this, and it could be a sign of their interest.
Rams could add talented playmaker in NFL Draft
Douglas is an intriguing height/weight/speed wide receiver prospect. At 6’3, 206 pounds, Douglas ran a 4.39 40-yard dash. His film is littered with him winning downfield with the Red Raiders.
It’s an intriguing fit with the Rams, as they desperately need to improve their speed in the wide receiver room. Last season exposed their lack of true explosive downfield ability, as their explosives had to be manufactured instead of off of true talent. This was especially proven in their divisional playoff game against the Chicago Bears, when the offense felt stuck in the mud for the entirety of the snow game.
Additionally, Douglas would be a boon for the Rams in the red zone. When Davante Adams missed time this year from injury, the Rams struggled to deliver through the air in the red zone, and they could use someone of Douglas’s size to help deliver in those situations.
We’ll see if the Rams do end up drafting Douglas, but it is worth noting that they are scouting wide receivers and are seeking to improve their depth. Behind Adams and Puka Nacua, the Rams have just Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield as players who have played for the team during the regular season, and neither have proven themselves as consistent playmakers. We’ll see how much they add here in the draft, but it is an important sign to see.
