Josh Heupel’s Tennessee Vols football team just picked up one the biggest wins they could ask for this spring
Tennessee lands a big time commitment in the class of 2027 — and it stands out because they beat multiple major football programs to get him.
The Tennessee Volunteers football program just got hit with some big news and you’ll see the impact in the future.
A couple of weeks ago, momentum fully shifted toward the Vols landing a big-time commit over multiple major college football powers — that’s now happened.
2027 four-star WR Kesean Bowman committed to Tennessee over Ohio State, Vanderbilt, and Alabama. Tennessee notably beat out the Oregon Ducks as well, Bowman was committed to Dan Lanning’s team until he reopened his recruitment last September.
Strong push pays off for Josh Heupel and the Vols
Tennessee was able to land the No. 7 recruit in the class of 2027 mainly by identifying talent early and showing its interest. The Vols offered Bowman in May 2024, when he was a high school freshman. In the end, making Bowman feel important was the difference maker.
“I chose Tennessee because they offered me a scholarship during my freshman year and always treated me like a priority,” Bowman said of his commitment. “Throughout it all, they never once backed off and continued to push for me.”
Being an instate talent at Brentwood Academy, it’s a crucial win for the Vols not letting a premier talent leave the state borders. The best college football teams do a solid job of keeping the best players home, Heupel and the Tennessee staff doing so here is a big win. A team like Ohio State was even pushing hard down the stretch to land Bowman, and the Vols won over. Getting to signing day is now the key.
The 6-foot, 176-pound wideout is the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee and No. 41-ranked player nationally, per 247Sports Composite.
Bowman is the highest-rated commitment for Tennessee in the class and gives Tennessee the No. 14-ranked class, per 247 Sports. The four-star wideout is the first at the position for Tennessee this cycle after bringing four in 2026 led by freshman Tristen Keys.
Some good news for Vols fans everywhere on this spring Saturday.
