The Dolphins’ newest 2026 NFL Draft visit comes at one of the few positions not hit with sweeping change this offseason
The Dolphins are reportedly showing some interest in a National Champion, who plays one of Miami’s most stable positions.
The Miami Dolphins‘ offseason has been defined by one word: “change”.
There aren’t many places on this roster where upheaval hasn’t hit. Quarterback, wide receiver, tight end, the offensive line, the edge defender position, and the secondary have all seen sweeping changes. Defensive tackle and running back are probably the two most stable positions held over from the 2025 roster to date. But even that is subject to change. One of the latest reported Dolphins visits for a 2026 NFL Draft prospect should raise an eyebrow on this front. Miami is, per Aaron Wilson, hosting Indiana running back Kaelon Black.
Dolphins holding visit for Indiana Hoosiers running back Kaelon Black
Two years at James Madison. Another two at Indiana — which culminated with a 10-touchdown season and a National Championship with the Hoosiers this past season. Black is an accomplished runner whose best projection would be the kind of player that takes what you create for him at the point of attack, plus a few yards more on his way to the ground.
Both Indiana running backs, Black and Roman Hemby, are physical, blue-collar players and the fact that the Dolphins are telegraphing some level of interest in that backfield is…interesting. Especially considering the state of affairs with the running back position as a whole on Miami’s roster.
Devon Achane appears to be in line for a big contract extension and the Dolphins footed a portion of his 2026 compensation already in a salary cap maneuver. But young running backs Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon II both exist as rookie contract players in Miami’s backfield, too. Could the assessment of one (or both) be underwhelming for the new regime in place? Or could the Dolphins be doing their due diligence in case that blockbuster offer for Achane comes through the door? Mercifully, we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out. In the meantime, just keep it in the back of your mind — an offseason of change may dip into the backfield before we get to the summer.
