The 2026 NFL Draft is less than a month away from kicking off, and it is going to be a stress-filled event for the Indianapolis Colts and multiple other teams across the league.

The Colts lack of a first round pick thanks to their trade for Sauce Gardner only increases the stakes and makes their margin for error paper thin. So what better time to do a seven round Colts mock draft than now.

Let’s start with a trade: the Colts only own two picks in the top 100 and four in the top 200, so a trade back from their first selection in the draft at pick 47 makes a lot of sense. To keep it fair, I only considered trades offered to me in the A to Z Sports mock draft simulator. I received four offers, and I decided to accept a trade with the Green Bay Packers to move back five picks and land an extra fifth-round selection.

Trade:
Indianapolis Colts send: pick 47 (second round)
Green Bay Packers send: pick 52 (second round), and pick 160 (fifth round)

Round 2, Pick 52: Josiah Trotter, LB, Missouri

After the trade back, my main focus for the Colts was at linebacker. The team also has a big need at edge, but the options left on the board didn’t offer great value, and I think the Colts need this pick to have a good shot at becoming a day one starter.

Jake Golday and Josiah Trotter were the top players considered for this selection and while it was close, Trotter is the better fit. Golday is still pretty raw at linebacker after starting his career as an edge rusher, and Trotter’s IQ at the position is off the charts. He could be a day one starter, and he has the potential to wear the green dot for Lou Anarumo’s defense as a rookie.

Round 3, Pick 78: Jaishawn Barham, EDGE, Michigan

After bypassing edge in round two, I have the Colts targeting the position in the third round in Jaishawn Barham. This would be the Colts betting on his overall upside as a pass rusher, with him only having half a season of experience playing there.

He had a lot of flashes as a speed rusher and has a great feel for the run game, which you don’t usually see in a project-type like Barham is. This may seem like a reach, but there are similarities between his game and that of Jalon Walker, who was drafted in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.

Some notable players ranked higher than Barham that I elected to pass on in favor of the Michigan pass rusher were: Michigan’s Derrick Moore and Tennessee’s Joshua Josephs.

Round 4 pick 113: Trey Zuhn, OT/IOL, Texas A&M

To kick off day three of this Colts draft class, I have the team taking a versatile offensive lineman in Texas A&M’s Trey Zuhn. Zuhn played left tackle in college, but many believe he will move to center in the NFL. He also has some upside as a guard that some teams may consider.

The Colts depth on the offensive line is in a rough spot right now, with guard Dalton Tucker the only trustworthy reserve. Zuhn could slot in at any of the three positions and, in my opinion, be an upgrade over what the team currently has. He could also certainly compete with Jalen Travis for the team’s open starting right tackle job.

Round 5 pick 156: De’Zhaun Stribling, WR, Ole Miss

After trading away Michael Pittman Jr., the Colts have a need for an outside wide receiver to play opposite their number one, Alec Pierce. My personal favorite option in this class for them to target is Ole Miss’ De’Zhaun Stribling. He excels at getting open in the short and intermediate area of the field, and is a real weapon when it comes to earning yards after the catch.

He would be an excellent fit to join Pierce and Josh Downs as the Colts’ starting trio, and the team should consider him. Other top wide receiver options that were available for this pick include Cincinnati’s Jeff Caldwell, John Carroll’s Tyren Montgomery, and Baylor’s Josh Cameron.

Round 5 pick 160: Cade Klubnik, QB, Clemson

Yep, you read that right, it’s a quarterback. The Colts are looking to trade Anthony Richardson, and he could be off the team by the time the draft arrives. If so, they could take a shot on a high upside player like Cade Klubnik out of Clemson to replace him in the room. Before the 2025 season, many thought he was in the discussion to be the number one overall pick in the draft, but a rough year for the Tigers as a whole has affected all of their players’ draft stocks.

I think he would be a solid addition to sit behind Daniel Jones and compete with Riley Leonard to be the team’s backup, and who knows, maybe one of them develops into a potential starter.

Round 6 pick 214: Robert Spears-Jennings, S, Oklahoma

The safety position in the 2026 NFL Draft is one of the deepest position groups in the class. Oklahoma’s Robert Spears-Jennings is a player flying under the radar who would be a great fit to join the competition to replace Nick Cross as a starter on the Colts defense. He is a physical run stopper and has shown himself to be an elite athlete. Even as a sixth-round pick here, I think he could compete to be a day-one starter, and at worst, I think he would be a lethal special-teams weapon for the Colts.

I have the Colts making a small trade-up to finish this draft, moving their final two seventh-rounders to the Bills to move up 19 picks and land a running back to compete to be Jonathan Taylor’s backup.

Trade:
Indianapolis Colts send: picks 249 and 254 (seventh round)
Buffalo Bills send: pick 220 (seventh round
)

Round 7 pick 220: Jamarion Miller, RB, Alabama

Last up to round out this Colts seven-round mock draft is Alabama RB Jamarion Miller, or better known as Jam Miller. Miller and the Alabama running game this past year were a bit disappointing, but the team’s run blocking played a large role in that, in my opinion.

Miller has a lot of burst even in his intriguing frame at 5-10 and above 200 lbs. I like his upside as a pass blocker and pass catcher, along with his ability to run outside of the tackles. He’d be nice competition for the second year running back, DJ Giddens, to be Jonathan Taylor’s backup for the 2026 season and beyond.

Full Colts mock draft summary and grade

This draft haul finished with a B grade in A to Z Sports’ new mock draft simulator. The simulator’s top graded pick of the class was using a fifth-round pick to land a potential starting wide receiver in Stribling. And the simulator seems to think trading up to land Miller in the seventh round wasn’t necessary.
