Trey Hendrickson is no longer with the Cincinnati Bengals, but he’s leaving the city and its people with something good.

Hendrickson and his wife, Alisa, donated $250,000 to The Cincy Hat Foundation, founded and operated by Bengals center Ted Karras, after Karras challenged the newest member of the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive line to donate to the organization.

“Only way we forgive Trey is if he donates $1M to The Cincy Hat Foundation,” Karras posted to X/Twitter following the news of Hendrickson signing with the Ravens.

Hendrickson, who signed a four-year, $112 million deal with the Ravens, admitted in his statement following his donation it was Karras who sparked the decision.

“Ted’s tweet may have helped kick this one off, but Alisa and I are truly proud to support The Cincy Hat Foundation and the incredible work Ted continues to do for adults with disabilities,” Hendrickson said according to WLWT. “Regardless of where I play, I will always be grateful for the opportunity to support the impact The Cincy Hat is making for families.”

Ted Karras’ influence continues to show its strength in Cincinnati

Hendrickson leaving Cincinnati after five years with the club was expected, but seeing him join another AFC North club was a gut punch for fans, and Karras recognized this. Calling on Hendrickson for one final act of kindness after his departure allowed him a chance to officially leave on good terms, and bolster the community.

It’s easy to see why Karras is so beloved and respected by his teammates, and the Queen City as a whole.

“Trey has been a great friend and teammate as well as an exceptional player for us for many years,” Karras said his own press release following the donation. “Although he has moved on to our bitter rival, his generous donation will forever help house adults with disabilities in Cincinnati. I’m incredibly grateful to Trey and his wife Alisa.

“We will see you on Sunday.”

Karras has been with the Bengals since 2022 and is under contract through the 2026 season. He’ll be guaranteed at least two games against Hendrickson this upcoming season when Baltimore comes up on Cincy’s schedule twice.

They will go to war in the trenches, but peace has already been made.
