The Las Vegas Raiders are urgently facing a safety depth crisis as the 2026 NFL Draft approaches. With just weeks remaining, it’s clear the Raiders could be in the market to take maybe two safeties.

They currently have three safeties—Isaiah Pola-Mao, Jeremy Chinn, and Tristin McCollum—on the roster. Selecting one or two through the draft, or signing an undrafted free agent, would address this significant roster gap. New head coach Klint Kubiak addressed the need for depth on Tuesday.

“I think we’ve got to get deeper. It’s a good draft for that position. I think we’ve got three
guys that we’re working with right now. We’ve got to continue to build that depth,” Kubiak told reporters at the NFL League Meetings.

The Raiders can go so many directions in the draft with the safety position. In A to Z Sports’ new Mock Draft Simulator, pick 36 has a few possibilities at the safety position. The Raiders could have Emmanuel McNeil-Warren of Toledo, or even A.J. Haulcy of the LSU Tigers, although he may be a bit of a reach at No. 36.

At their next pick, pick No. 67, the Raiders could be looking at USC’s Kamari Ramsey, Arizona safeties Treydan Stukes and Genesis Smith, Jalen Kilgore of South Carolina, Bud Clark of TCU, or even Penn State safety Zakee Wheatley.

Somewhere between the second and fourth rounds is where the Raiders should target a safety. The only question is, which pick? They have five picks in between those two rounds. There are so many possibilities, but the main thing is that they get at least one, hopefully two, safeties who can cover. They don’t really need box safeties anymore, since coverage ability is a bigger need for their current defensive scheme and what’s currently on the roster. The good thing is that they should have the ability to pick from several coverage safeties.
