The 2026 NFL Draft is now under two weeks away, and the Washington Commanders need to nail every pick.

They only have six picks to work with right now, but NFL insiders expect this to be a trade-heavy draft with teams looking to collect more top-100 picks. The Commanders are a prime trade-back candidate with only two picks in the top-100. They’ve explored prospects who could be trade-back options, including a new name.

We can now add another target for the Commanders if they trade back, as they’re hosting WR Omar Cooper Jr. for a top-30 visit today.

The Commanders are exploring every opportunity for the first round, including a trade back for more picks. Sure, it all depends on who is on the board when they pick at No. 7 overall, but they’re prepared for it. We’ve seen the Commanders bring in WRs Makai Lemon and Denzel Boston as trade-back targets, and now Cooper Jr. is on the board.

This draft isn’t as deep as others, so trading back and adding more impact players in the first three rounds is ideal. The downside, however, is that they might have to pass on some top players at No. 7 overall. Cooper Jr. is an explosive WR who would be a perfect fit and ideal trade-back target.

Omar Cooper Jr. is the perfect fit for the Washington Commanders

The Commanders have been rumored to heavily target a WR in the NFL Draft after missing on top free agents. They need another outside WR opposite of Terry McLaurin, but Brandon Aiyuk could be that option once he’s finally released. The one position they lack is a true slot WR, which is critical in David Blough’s new offense.

Cooper Jr. is one of the best slot WRs up there with Makai Lemon, and some teams have him as high as No. 15 overall. He was one of the best WRs in the country last year, and finished with 937 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Cooper Jr. is 6-0, 201 pounds, and an elite route runner. He can also play outside with his bigger frame, and he shows his physicality after the catch. Cooper Jr. has incredible contact balance and forced 27 missed tackles, which was fourth most in the country. He could easily become one of the top-producing WRs in this draft, and the perfect trade-back target for the Commanders.
