Earlier this offseason, reports indicated that Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Vols planned to be aggressive in the transfer portal this offseason.

And so far, that certainly seems to be the case.

Tennessee has already added some elite talent to its roster after coming up one game short of the Final Four earlier this month.

Rick Barnes and the Vols land another big transfer addition

The Vols made their third transfer addition of the month on Sunday by landing Loyola transfer center Miles Rubin.

Rubin, 6-foot-10/220 pounds, averaged 11.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks last season (all career highs).

The former three-star recruit from Chicago has one season of eligibility remaining after spending the last three seasons at Loyola.

Barnes is looking to add some elite scorers to the roster, but the addition of Rubin is a reminder that defense will still be important for Tennessee next season, as the Chicago native is an elite rim protector (237 blocks in three seasons).

Rubin joins Belmont guard Tyler Lundblade and California guard Dai Dai Ames as transfer additions for the Vols.

Tennessee is also set to return guard Troy Henderson and forward DeWayne Brown in 2026.

The Volunteers still have work to do in the transfer portal, but it’s clear that Barnes isn’t messing around this offseason.
