Kirk Cousins reveals what the identity of the offense will be in 2026 after Klint Kubiak wasn’t ready to share it yet months ago

The Las Vegas Raiders have a clear identity under Klint Kubiak, and Kirk Cousins shared what that will look like at his initial press conference.

The Las Vegas Raiders have not really had an identity on offense since Jon Gruden was fired. Even when Josh McDaniels was hired, they still weren’t very good on that side of the ball, and there was no one thing they excelled at. That’s carried over just about every single year, and especially last year when they were the league’s worst offense.

With an offensive mastermind at the helm, they will have an identity on that side of the ball. We’re not really sure what that will be yet, especially because we haven’t seen the team do anything. Not to mention, Kubiak didn’t have an answer for that when he was asked what it would be. He mentioned he wanted to talk to the team first before making any of that public.

Now, Kirk Cousins has revealed the identity of the offense and what they expect it to be.

Kirk Cousins reveals the identity of the Raiders offense

“It starts with your effort, the way you attack, and then it’s very team-first, team-focused, making sure we put the team first, we play together as a team,” Cousins told the media during his intro presser. “A phrase he used in the team meeting yesterday was to ‘ride for the brand,’ meaning that you’re kind of doing whatever it takes to help our organization move forward in the right direction.

“So, that was really what he led with yesterday in the team meeting: the importance of truly being a team, playing together, and then playing with shocking effort, I believe, was the word he used. And that’s something that will be coached as long as they’re here, it’s going to be coached every day.”

Many will wonder how Cousins knows this, given that he just arrived in Vegas. However, he has spent considerable time with Kubiak over the years. They paired up in Minnesota for one of Cousins’ best QB stretches.

Their connection also dates back to their early careers with the Washington Commanders, where they worked closely together.

My main takeaway is Kubiak telling Cousins and the team their identity will be to ‘ride for the brand.’ Kubiak isn’t a high-energy guy like some coaches, so hearing him talk about the Raiders that way stood out. Now, those words need to show up in their play.
