Bears 2026 NFL Draft Matchmaker: Top prospects who would be the perfect fit for Chicago’s coaching staff blueprint
The Chicago Bears have clear player types when it comes to various coaches on the staff, so let’s link some prospects as perfect fits for the team in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Chicago Bears have been linked to countless prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft with the 25th overall pick in the first-round alone, a sign that no one truly has a feel for what general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Ben Johnson will do in the draft.
The best way to get a real feel for what kind of prospects the team could consider is by matching players that best fit what the coaching staff favors at various positions.
So, let’s be a matchmaker for the Bears can connect the perfect fits that embody traits various coaches on the staff are looking for.
T.J. Parker, Malachi Lawrence and Gabe Jacas – Long-limbed, quick DEs for Dennis Allen
The Bears have been linked to basically every top edge rusher in the class and many of times you’ll hear about a player being the “ideal fit” for defensive coordinator Dennis Allen. But, what traits exactly does Dennis Allen look for?
Based on his previous DE selections with the New Orleans Saints, Allen’s ideal edge rusher is a long-limbed player with some quickness off the line of scrimmage. So, it’s best to focus on arm length (32+ inches) and 10-yard-split (sub 1.65). T.J. Parker, Malachi Lawrence, and Gabe Jacas are the only three top DEs that fit that mold for the Bears to consider in the first-round (Akheem Mesidor did not to any on-field drills at the NFL Combine or Miami Pro Day).
Keionte Scott and Treydan Stukes – Fast, versatile DBs that offer blitz upside for Dennis Allen
The Bears defense is looking for two different style players when it comes to defensive back. The first kind of player Allen is looking to add is an aggressive box player and ideally one that can bring more speed to the defense. This kind of player will be a hybrid safety/nickel to play alongside Kyler Gordon and Coby Bryant between the hashes.
Keionte Scott is the first name that comes to mind, and fittingly he’s in Chicago right now for his 30 visit. Scott had a 4.33 40-yard-dash at his Pro Day and is a havoc-creator. Treydan Stukes is another similar player who ran a 4.33 40-yard-dash as well at the NFL Combine and can play any position in the secondary.
Germie Bernard and De’Zhaun Stribling – Reliable, team-first WRs for Ben Johnson and Antwaan Randle El
Ben Johnson already had a really solid trio of pass catchers in Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, and Colston Loveland. He also made it a point to bring in Kalif Raymond to be a leader for those younger guys. If the Bears continue adding to the WR room, Johnson’s focus will be on adding a reliable target who can contribute as a blocker.
Germie Bernard and De’Zhaun Stribling are two players with a team-first mindset that Johnson will really like. Dane Brugler praised both players for being dependable pass catchers that are willing to do the dirty work.
Tacario Davis and Devin Moore – Lanky outside CBs for Al Harris
The second kind of defensive back the Bears are looking for is a lanky outside cornerback that excels at press man coverage and isn’t afraid to get involved in the run game. I call this one the Al Harris Type and it’s a real need for Chicago after losing Nahshon Wright.
Tacario Davis was actually compared to Wright by Lance Zierlein given his height (6-3 7/8) and his 33 inch wingspan. Davis’ size/speed combo will be really attractive for Harris. The same goes for Devin Moore, who also has rare height/length for the position but comes with a lengthy injury history.
