The New York Giants made an addition on Monday that could affect their late-stage 2026 NFL Draft plans. With the move, they also brought back together a player/coach duo that they clearly value for next season.

Giants make quarterback move for depth

According to reports, the Giants are signing veteran quarterback Brandon Allen. Allen has spent time with new Giants quarterbacks coach Brian Callahan with multiple teams so far in his pro career.

Allen has played for the Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, and Jacksonville Jaguars. He is an experienced backup with experience in multiple systems.

The journeyman QB joins Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston on the depth chart for New York.

Allen has completed 183 of 323 passes (56.7 percent) for 1,882 yards to go along with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions in the NFL.

” Prior to the NFL, Allen totaled 7,463 passing yards at the University of Arkansas, which ranked third in program history. He made 38 career starts, including his final 34 games, the longest streak for an Arkansas quarterback since joining the SEC in 1992. He also finished second in program history in career pass completions (583), second in attempts (1,016) and third in completion percentage (57.4). He was a Manning Passing Academy counselor as a senior in 2015.”– New York Giants

Allen will compete for the backup job, and this move could adjust the Giants’ plans for the 2026 NFL Draft. With just Dart and Winston on the roster, NY could have targeted a rookie quarterback on day three later this month.

Now, with all three of them in the fold, the Giants may choose to allocate that sort of resource elsewhere and roll with who they have in the room. Allen reunites with a coach he knows well in Brian Callahan and continues his NFL career.
