Pros of Harold Perkins Jr.
- Versatile. Has played on-ball, as a star/nickel, and as a pass rusher. Produced at all three spots.
- Explosive. Rallies downhill and explodes into the ball carrier. Plays with his hair on fire and with effort on every rep.
- Range. Flows sideline to sideline with ease. Makes plays in coverage due to his ability to cover ground.
Cons of Harold Perkins Jr.
- Size. Borderline undersized even for a stacked backer, diminutive for an EDGE player.
- Tackling. Far too many missed tackles at the second level. Has to work on wrapping up.
- Injuries. Missed time with an ACL tear in 2024.
Background
A New Orleans native, Perkins committed to the Tigers out of CY Park HS, where he was a 5-star recruit and rated the nation’s best outside linebacker by ESPN. Perkins would go on to star immediately at LSU, earning first-team All-SEC honors. Stuck through turbulent times at the University and an ACL tear to return to form in 2025, and cement himself as an NFL Draft pick.
Player Evaluation
Perkins came to LSU as a highly anticipated player, and he leaves as one of the best players in what many will call a forgotten Brian Kelly era. He has repeatedly shown his range, explosion, and versatility. He has been productive as a stacked backer, playing the star, or even when asked to rush the passer. His size and durability are the biggest concerns in his projection, but he could be a defenisve coordinators best friend as a Swiss Army Knife.
