Adam Schefter just added more fuel to the fire around what the Cleveland Browns are trying to do in the NFL Draft’s first round
The Cleveland Browns are scheduled to make a pair of first round picks. ESPN’s NFL insider revealed a key tidbit about the Browns ahead of Thursday’s draft.
With the 2026 NFL Draft being this week, rumors are going to begin swirling around the league. The Cleveland Browns have two first-round picks, so there are plenty of directions the early part of this draft could go for them.
Cleveland is currently set to pick at Nos. 6 and 24 in the draft, but at this point, it seems unlikely they will make selections at both of those spots. Where there is plenty of smoke there’s often fire, and trade clues keep coming up for the Browns.
Insider drops new draft update on the Cleveland Browns
There’s been a lot of noise about the Browns want to move back in the draft from their No. 6 spot. ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed the Browns are already doing work to make that happen.
“Browns are already taking calls about the No. 6 pick, and sources said they’re open to moving it,” Schefter wrote. “Another move back would give the Browns more capital in a draft in which they are already scheduled to have nine picks, including Nos. 6 and 24 in the first round.”
Schefter revealed the Cowboys at pick No. 12 are a team looking to move up. Dallas also owns the No. 20 pick in the draft, and a swap of picks including Cleveland’s No. 39 pick could make sense for both sides.
If the Browns are to stay at No. 6, it’s all but a lock they’re taking a wide receiver or offensive tackle. Carnell Tate and Jordyn Tyson would be the wideouts in contention for the No. 6 pick, while offensive tackles Francis Mauigoa and Spencer Fano are possible there too.
Whether or not the Browns move out of No. 6 will have all to do with what happens in the first five picks ahead of them. If the Browns have a player who is too high on their board to pass at No. 6, then Cleveland is going to take him barring a trade offer they can’t refuse.
There are a couple of days until the draft kicks off on Thursday and plenty more noise and possibly trades are going to happen before then. The Browns are already preparing to move the No. 6 pick if they deem it to be necessary in the first round.
