‘That doesn’t mean they get him’ – Tennessee is still pursuing Juke Harris, but the timeline for a decision is tricky

The Tennessee Vols’ biggest remaining portal target is Wake Forest Demon Deacons transfer guard Juke Harris.

Harris, 6-foot-7/200 pounds from Salisbury, NC, averaged 21.4 points per game as a sophomore for Wake Forest this past season.

The North Carolina Tar Heels and Michigan Wolverines are also pursuing Harris. Additionally, entering the 2026 NBA Draft remains a possibility for the Wake Forest transfer.

When is Juke Harris going to make a decision?

Because the NBA is a factor here, the Harris decision could drag out a bit.

“We’ll see what Juke Harris does,” said VolQuest’s Brent Hubbs Tuesday on WNML’s SportsTalk. “I don’t think Juke Harris is in any hurry. He’s got the draft process out there, and then he’s obviously got Michigan and North Carolina still on his list, along with Tennessee.

“He knows Tennessee better than he knows either one of the other schools, because he explored Tennessee coming out of high school. North Carolina, obviously, has a new coach. So I think he’s most comfortable, or knows the most about Tennessee. That doesn’t mean they get him, so we’ll see what happens.”

On3’s Pete Nakos reported Tuesday that it “appears unlikely” the Tar Heels will land Harris while pointing out that Tennessee continues to communicate with the North Carolina native.

“The communication continues between Tennessee and Harris,” wrote Nakos. “There’s some familiarity between Harris’ family and Rick Barnes’ staff from when the Volunteers recruited him out of high school. Those connections have helped the Vols emerge as one of the top options for the transfer and gave them confidence last week.”

Nakos also reported that “the price for Harris continues to be upwards of $3 million, but that number could continue to rise the longer this plays out”.

Harris has until late May to pull his name out of the 2026 NBA Draft while retaining his college eligibility.
