Dallas Cowboys confirm jersey number rumors after pictures from The Star emerge, and it’s got meaning for star DT
In the middle of 2026 NFL Draft week, we have some news on the Dallas Cowboys’ jersey numbers side of things. And it involves one of the biggest names on defense.
Let’s take a quick break from NFL Draft coverage and dive into something that I know Dallas Cowboys fans will care about: Jersey number news.
On Tuesday morning, rumors emerged about Cowboys defensive tackle Kenny Clark changing his jersey number after insider Nick Harris posted pictures of new signage around team headquarters at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
Consider those rumors confirmed.
Clark takes Osa Odighizuwa’s old number
In the new signage by the Cowboys, Clark is shown rocking No. 97, which was previously worn by recently-traded DT Osa Odighizuwa.
Naturally, the image raised questions about whether the number change was official. The Cowboys have since confirmed the number change, as Clark is listed as No. 97 on the official roster (available at their official website).
Clark returns to his Packers, UCLA number
For Clark, the number change likely means a lot. It’s the number he wore at UCLA and Green Bay. When the Packers drafted him in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, then teammate Christian Ringo moved off of No. 97 to allow Clark to wear it.
Now, circumstances were a little tougher. The number became available when the Cowboys traded away Odighizuwa, who had recently signed an $80 million extension.
Donovan Ezeiruaku also changing numbers
Though not official on the website yet, Cowboys insider Patrik Walker reported second-year edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku will change from No. 41 to No. 6. That’s a massive upgrade in my book.
Expect more jersey news down the line.
For now, sure, if you insist, we can get back to Cowboys draft coverage.
