After plenty of waiting, Day 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft is finally here.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a lot of work to do after a disappointing 6-11 season in 2025. They won’t spend all of Thursday night waiting for the end of the first round, as the team has its first top-10 pick since 2017. They’ll hope to reload the roster through the draft and get back into contention for Super Bowl LXI during the 2026 NFL season.

Below, you’ll find everything you need to know about the Chiefs’ 2026 NFL Draft:

When will the Chiefs pick in Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft?

Teams have 8 minutes per pick in the first round of the draft. That’s down from 10 minutes per pick in previous years. Teams don’t always take the full time allotted to make a pick, but if they did, that would be over 4 hours from pick No. 1 through pick No. 32. That doesn’t even include network analysis and commercial time.

The Chiefs have the No. 9 and No. 29 picks in Round 1. Last year, the Saints selected Kelvin Banks at No. 9 overall at roughly 8:10 p.m. CT. If the teams take their full allotment of time with no overage for commercial and network, pick No. 9 will be made 72 minutes after the 2026 NFL Draft. That’d put us at 8:12 p.m. CT.

As for pick No. 29, if things stay on schedule, it should take place roughly 3 hours and 52 minutes after the draft begins. That’d put the pick at 10:52 p.m. CT. With plenty of fans having to go into work on Friday, hopefully things move a bit more quickly, and it’s made closer to 10:00 p.m. CT. A big goal for the NFL this year was to speed up the Round 1 process just a bit, which is why they lessened the time between picks.
