With the No. 109 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, the Chiefs select Jadon Canady, CB, Oregon
You have to go all the way back to the 1965 AFL Draft to find the only time the Chiefs have taken a player with the No. 109 pick. They selected Wiley DB Fred Dotson in the 14th round of the AFL Draft.
Everything to know about new Chiefs CB Jadon Canady
Age: 22
A to Z Sports Draft Projection: Round 4, Pick 124.
Career Projection: Good Backup With Start Potential
There is a surplus of secondary players in this class, and Canady is one of the more intriguing slot defenders. A fifth-year senior, Canady played just one season with the Ducks, and is a sticky defender, thriving against players with two-way gos. In the run game, he gives plenty of effort, but blockers often take advantage of him. Overall, Canady is a limited player, but can thrive if he’s in the right system.

The Chiefs continue to build a monster on defense with a shutdown nickel cornerback in Jadon Canady
The Chiefs continue to attack the defense with their selection of Oregon CB Jadon Canady. At 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, this redshirt senior corner is likely slated to play in the slot in the NFL after 999 career snaps in the slot across two seasons at Tulane, two seasons at Ole Miss, and one season at Oregon.
In 2025, Canady allowed just a 41.8 passer rating into his coverage. He recorded two interceptions and four passes broken up, allowing just 17 total receptions on 289 coverage snaps. He was one of just two cornerbacks to allow seven or fewer first downs in coverage last season. Canady allowed just five. The other? Chiefs’ first-round pick Mansoor Delane.
Fans will be frustrated by the continued lack of offensive additions, but the plan is clearly to build a defensive juggernaut in Kansas City.
