Grading The Pick: The Tennessee Titans Draft Indiana OC Pat Coogan No. 194 in the 2026 NFL Draft
Indiana OC Pat Coogan is the newest Titan, drafted in the sixth round with the 194th overall pick. The National Champion could provide exactly what every NFL team wants in their OL room: stability.
The Titans ended up taking a pair of interior offensive linemen on Day 3 of the 2026 draft, selecting Indiana OC Pat Coogan 194th overall after taking OG Fernando Carmona at 142.
Coogan comes off a triumphant championship run in which he played a whopping (by college standards) 16 game season for the Hoosiers. He was a fan-favorite connection to Tennnessee late in the draft, and now he’s headed to Nashville.
Grading OC Pat Coogan to the Titans
Coogan told us via Zoom on Saturday that he had only just met with the Titans this past Monday. The meeting went well; so well, that less than a week later GM Mike Borgonzi was on the phone with the lineman telling him his smarts, toughness and reliability were everything the Titans were looking for.
Coogan would’ve been a much higher pick if he wasn’t as limited physically and athletically.
He was thrust into a starting role at Notre Dame in his third year, then tranferred to join Indiana’s Championship squad for his fifth and final year of college. He played his best and most consistent ball of the season down the stretch of the College Football Playoffs, allowing zero sacks all season.
His arms are very short by NFL standards, so he won’t be winning with his reach. He won’t win with physical traits at all, in fact. The way he’ll work in the NFL is with his football IQ, fundamentals and technique. He’s a clean, sharp player described by everybody who knows the guy as a phenomenal leader. He was known in college for his electric pre-game speeches.
Coogan will join the murky pool of competition for two interior offensive line positions up for grabs this summer. If he becomes quality center depth quickly, this is a swing worth taking. He could become a comforting, steady option like Titans fans enjoyed in Corey Levin as a pro.
