Kansas City Chiefs 2026 NFL Draft Class Jersey Numbers Revealed: Rookies assigned new and familiar numbers ahead of minicamp
The Kansas City Chiefs have announced jersey numbers for their rookie draft picks, including some new and familiar numbers for various players. Here’s a rundown of each jersey number from Mansoor Delane to Garrett Nussmeier.
The Kansas City Chiefs will host their rookie minicamp this weekend, and ahead of the rookies’ arrival, they’ve announced jersey numbers for their 2026 NFL Draft class.
The NFL updated its jersey number rules several years ago. Here’s a reminder of what that currently looks like:
- Quarterbacks: 0–19
- Defensive Backs: 0–49
- Running Backs, Fullbacks, H-Backs: 0–49 and 80–89
- Wide Receivers: 0–49 and 80–89
- Tight Ends: 0–49 and 80–89
- Linebackers: 0–59 and 90–99
- Offensive Linemen: 50–79
- Defensive Linemen: 50–79 and 90–99
- Kickers/Punters: 0–49 and 90–99
The Chiefs have never had a player wear 0, and it looks like that will remain the case. Here’s a look at all the decisions for the incoming draft class…
Chiefs CB Mansoor Delane is keeping his No. 5 jersey

For the last two years in Kansas City, the No. 5 jersey was worn by WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. From 2014-2017, it was worn by former Chiefs K Cairos Santos. From 2020-2023, Chiefs P Tommy Townsend wore the No. 5 jersey. Historically speaking, this has been a kicker and punter number in Kansas City. Delane will actually become the first Chiefs defender to ever wear the No. 5 jersey.
Delane wore No. 4 at LSU and at Archbishop Spalding High School
Chiefs DT Peter Woods secures coveted No. 99 jersey in Kansas City

This number has has some good players to wear it during the Andy Reid era. Vance Walker, Rakeem Nunez-Roches, and Khalen Saunders, for instance. Most recently, it was worn by Jerry Tillery in 2025. Most notably, it was worn by Chiefs DE Mike Bell in the 1980s.
Woods wore the No. 11 at Clemson and at Thompson High School. That No. 11 jersey is currently worn by WR Jalen Royals in Kansas City.
R Mason Thomas’ jersey number says a lot about how the Chiefs envision him
Thomas wore the No. 32 jersey throughout his career at Oklahoma. With the Chiefs, he’ll wear No. 34, as Nick Bolton currently has No. 32 on lockdown. It’s a bit of a weird number for a player considered an edge rusher.
In fact, in the NFL, defensive linemen cannot wear the No. 34, but linebackers can. That tells you that the Chiefs are considering him a linebacker, at least for the time being, and for the sake of his jersey number. That’s notable for multiple reasons, but it could come into play with finances and the franchise tag down the line.
Jadon Canady gets his college jersey number, recently worn by Chiefs All-Pro
Jadon Canady wore the No. 28 jersey at Tulane and Ole Miss before switching to No. 22 at Oregon. He’ll wear the No. 22 jersey in Kansas City as well. It was most recently worn by All-Pro CB Trent McDuffie, who the Chiefs traded away this offseason. This has been a very good DB number for Kansas City for a while now. Before McDuffie, it was worn by Juan Thornhill; before Thornhill, by Marcus Peters.
Emmett Johnson snags a familiar running back jersey for Chiefs fans
Johnson wore the No. 21 at Nebraska, but he won’t be getting that number with the Chiefs. Kansas City wasted no time moving on from Isiah Pacheco, assigning his No. 10 jersey to Johnson.
This is an interesting one, given the speculation that Tyreek Hill could rejoin the team when healthy. Hill, of course, wore the No. 10 jersey with the Chiefs. It’s worth remembering that the numbers assigned at rookie minicamp aren’t always the numbers that stick when the season begins. Remember, Tyreek Hill wore No. 81 at Chiefs rookie minicamp back in the day, but eventually switched to No. 10 before the season began.
Cyrus Allen gets a double-digit jersey in Kansas City
Allen wore single-digit jerseys at all of his stops in college. No. 1 at Louisiana Tech, No. 6 at Texas A&M, and No. 9 at Cincinnati. With the Chiefs, he’ll wear No. 13, last worn by CB Nazeeh Johnson. Notable WRs during the Andy Reid era to wear the No. 13 are DeAnthony Thomas and Byron Pringle. However, the most notable former Chiefs player to wear this jersey is QB Steve Bono.
Garrett Nussmeier will share a jersey with a Chiefs specialist
Matt Araiza will share his No. 14 jersey number with QB Garrett Nussmeier for the time being. The NFL allows for two players on different sides of the ball to wear the same jersey number on the 90-man offseason roster. Nussmeier wore No. 5, No. 13, and No. 18 during his career at LSU, so I don’t think he has any particular hang-ups about jersey numbers.
Todd Blackledge once wore the No. 14 jersey for Kansas City at QB, but it was most notably worn by franchise legend Ed Podolak. During the Andy Reid era, it has been worn by both Sammy Watkins and Cornell Powell.
