The Eagles have their eye on a cornerback, and he has plenty of familiarity with Philadelphia after playing against the Birds in two Super Bowls.

The Philadelphia Eagles boast one of the NFL’s best rosters. Not only on paper, but in between the white lines. Where the team is particularly strong is in the defensive backfield and especially at the corner position with Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and free agent acquisition Tariq Woolen.

But despite that room and the 2026 NFL Draft being in the rearview, Howie Roseman is always looking to better his roster, and he’s interested in a cornerback who knows the Eagles pretty well.

Nazeeh Johnson Facts

Eagles hosting Nazeeh Johnson on a visit

Johnson spent the duration of his rookie contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, winning a Super Bowl (against the Birds) and losing another, as a depth corner and a core special-teams player. To learn more about what the Eagles would be receiving if they decide to sign Johnson, here is Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports Kansas City.

What would the Eagles receive from Nazeeh Johnson?

A former seventh-round draft pick out of Marshall, Johnson came to Kansas City as a safety and became an all-around defensive back. As a rookie in 2022, he primarily played special teams for the Chiefs, but they had big plans for him in 2023. During the early goings of the offseason program and training camp, he earned starting repetitions at corner and nickel due to his speed. Unfortunately, that trajectory would not last. After a training camp practice was moved indoors due to lightning, Johnson suffered a torn ACL and was subsequently placed on injured reserve. It was a disappointing end after a promising start to the offseason.

After L’Jarius Sneed was traded by the Chiefs, there were some in the building who believed that Johnson was the answer to help replace him as a versatile slot/boundary corner. In 2024, he appeared in all 19 regular-season and postseason games for the Chiefs, starting six in the season and two in the playoffs. He recorded a combined 62 total tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, and four passes defended, in what can only be described as an up-and-down year. In 2025, injury was again a problem, leaving 27-year-old to appear in only two games. If he can get healthy, he has the tools to become a solid defensive back in the league. But to this point that has been the major thing holding him back.

Final Word

My first exposure to Johnson was at the 2022 Tropical Bowl in Orlando, Florida, where ot was clear that he had the goods at the cornerback position. He may not be starting caliber, but he’s an excellent depth piece who can excel on special teams at the very least.
