The Chicago Bears are fully leaning into the youth movement on offense going into the second season under head coach Ben Johnson, and while that adds more pressure on the offense, the unit has some really promising weapons.

Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, and Colston Loveland rightfully have received most of the spotlight heading into the 2026 season and project to be highly impactful players for this offense. But, fans shouldn’t overlook the other contributors.

That’s especially the case for second-year wide receiver Jahdae Walker, who flashed some highlight plays late in the regular season. Walker isn’t in line for a starting position, but he’s certainly a player that can make an impact and has a lot of fans in the building.

Chicago Bears QB Tyson Bagent reminds fans not to forget about WR Jahdae Walker

“I think he’ll take it as far as he wants to,” Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent said of Walker on ESPN Chicago. “He’s got that #9 on now, something about it makes him look bigger, prettier, and better. He seems to be confident, he’s always having a good time. Somebody to be able to go up and high point the ball, somebody that is physical [to where] guy’s not going to get pushed around, good blocker as well. The sky is the limit.”

Working as a backup last season, no one understands Walker’s potential and work ethic more than Bagent, the team’s QB2. Bagent and Walker formed a strong connection last year during training camp and preseason action, when Walker first started to show what he can bring to Chicago.

The former UDFA earned a spot on the 53-man roster and while it was a quiet start to his rookie season, he stayed ready for his opportunity. In Week 16, Walker had one of the biggest plays of the season when he hauled in a game-tying touchdown late in the fourth quarter to force overtime against the Green Bay Packers.

He proved in that game that he’s able to show up and deliver when his number is called for this team, even in the biggest moments. It’s easy to see why everyone loves this guy, including the coaches.

Ben Johnson already sees great things in what Jahdae Walker can become for the Chicago Bears

“We see what he does every single week,” head coach Ben Johnson said of Walker back in Dec. “We see how he goes about his business. There’s a reason why we didn’t want to expose him to the waiver wire and someone poach him after the preseason. We see a bright future for this guy and he’s done nothing but steadily improve over the course of this season.”

Heading into Year 2, the Bears have a vacant opening at the WR3 spot after trading away veteran DJ Moore. However, it might not be filled by just one wide receiver. The Bears will have Walker, veteran Kalif Raymond, and speedy rookie Zavion Thomas to mix-n-match in 3WR sets. And if injuries present themselves at the position, the Bears are confident about the depth in that room.

For Walker, he’s a player that’s only going to get better the more work that he puts in. Fans shouldn’t be sleeping on this guy and he will quickly prove why.

“I think he’s got a really high ceiling,” Johnson added. “He’s got a chance to really develop into an excellent receiver and be a meaningful player for a long time.”
