One of the Miami Dolphins’ promising undrafted rookie signings is already calling it a career
This Miami Dolphins 2026 undrafted rookie was here for a good time, not for a long time.
The Miami Dolphins did not invest a lot in the way of undrafted rookie players after the 2026 NFL Draft. This comes part because the team’s rookie class of actual draft picks hit a baker’s dozen. That mark is the second-highest in team history.
But one of the undrafted rookies that the team did sign is already moving on from the Dolphins. It’s a surprising turn, but a sobering reminder of how tough life in the NFL can be. The Dolphins announced the transaction on Tuesday afternoon. Former Texas A&M Aggies running back Le’Veon Moss is retiring.

The Dolphins had just filled their final roster spot on the offseason roster yesterday with the signing of undrafted rookie fullback DJ Herman. Now, just one day later, they find themselves with a new spot ready to be filled. Miami, thanks to rookie tight end Seydou Traore, has 91 roster spots available this summer.
Moss struggled with injuries throughout the course of his college career. He’d never played in more than 9 games in a single season with the Aggies and dealt with hamstring, ankle, and knee injuries throughout the course of his college career. Those injuries, plus a physical play style and his age, made his resume flawed enough for all 32 NFL teams to pass him over despite his obvious talent.
Moss will now transition to life after football. And the Dolphins will look to fill the void Moss leaves behind on the 90 (91!) man roster this summer. It will be interesting to see if Miami circles back to a potential running back add or if they simply use this chance to target a talent elsewhere.
