Netflix’s ‘Quarterback’ to star Cam Ward in Season 3, setting him up to do something no recent Titans QB has done

Cam Ward is set to be the first rookie QB featured on Netflix’s flagship NFL docuseries ‘Quarterback’. It sets him up to be the first Titans QB the nation is genuinely interested in in many years.

For Titans fans who want more Cam Ward content, this is Christmas in May.

Netflix’s flagship NFL documentary series ‘Quarterback” is back this summer for a third season, and one of the four players set to star this year is Titans QB Cam Ward.

He joins Jayden Daniels, Baker Mayfield, and Joe Flacco on this Summer’s edition of the show. Previous features include Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, Marcus Mariota, Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, and Kirk Cousins.

Ward is the first rookie season the show has ever documented. It will follow him largely from July of 2025 through to April 2026, with some behind-the-scenes footage from draft night when he was the first overall pick as well. It all sets Ward up to do something we haven’t seen a Titans QB do in some time: be culturally interesting.

Cam Ward can become first interesting Titans QB in years

No disrespect intended to guys like Ryan Tannehill, Marcus Mariota, or Will Levis. As a close Titans observer, I found you guys interesting! But I cannot control what the rest of the NFL world thinks, and the reality is that the Titans haven’t had a QB be truly relevant on a national level since Vince Young and Steve McNair before him.

Knowing Cam Ward a good deal already, there’s a certain irony in him becoming “the interesting one”. Cam is somebody who likes to throw a football, hit the gym, go fishing, hang out with his dog, talk to his parents, and then do it all again tomorrow. At least, that’s what he and the people around him have told us on more than one occasion.

‘Quarterback’ is a series that focuses on the person just as much as it documents the player. So perhaps this Summer is when we get to see some of the color that Cam lets into his life. You can’t just fish and play fetch every day!

Some immediate thoughts come to mind about this season. First, Netflix couldn’t have known what they were getting themselves into when they chose this group of players last offseason! The difference between what they thought they were going to get and what they actually got has to have been a splash of cold water in a way. Because besides Joe Flacco still being an ageless wonder winning some largely meaningless games, this is going to be a season very heavy on trials and tribulations!

Daniels and Mayfield both dealt with injuries and former playoff teams that floundered in disappointing years. And Ward had to journey through the hell of being on a terrible and tumultuous team that fired the head coach 6 weeks into the season. So themes of overcoming adversity are on the menu!

I’m very interested to see how the show frames Ward’s year. There are some easy flashes to lean into, but so many landmines of disappointment to traverse. Knowing the healthy relationship NFL Films, Netflix, and the individual clubs have, I have to image the story will lean into Ward persevering through a lot of turmoil and coming out the other side still looking like a future face of his franchise. I’ll be watching July 14th.
