We already know when the Titans’ next primetime game will be unless the NFL treats them differently than every other franchise since 2008
The Titans aren’t scheduled to play in primetime in 2026, the second time in the past two years. But that means we can already bank on when their next primetime game will be, assuming the NFL treats them fairly.
People are saying the Tennessee Titans are the last true defenders of the noon timeslot on Sundays.
As the NFL careens further into calendar sprawl madness, you can set your watch to the Titans for a second straight year. They play at noon on Sunday fifteen times this fall, with two late-season afternoon window game. Find the full the schedule here.
While there’s always the possibility of being flexed into primetime (which an NFL executive floated for the Titans specifically on Friday), those odds feel low. So assuming the Titans don’t go full 2025 Patriots and explode into relevancy, history already tells us when they’ll get their next primetime game.
Titans first primetime game in three years likely to be New Nissan Stadium debut
New Nissan Stadium opens in less than a year, with a summer of programming before the Titans debut there in the fall. Much has been made of the Super Bowl all-but promised to the city of Nashville at least once, expected in 2030. Needless to say, the league office is invested in the Titans’ new world-class entertainment facility.
And that NFL investment is what will land the Titans their first primetime game in nearly three years. based on over 20 years of precedent, you can bet that the Titans will host a primetime home opener in either Week 1 or Week 2 of the NFL season to showcase the latest NFL megastructure.
Here’s a list of every new NFL stadium opened since 2008. the past nine new builds have followed this pattern.
- Buffalo Bills: Highmark Stadium, 2026, Week 2 primetime debut
- Las Vegas Raiders: Allegiant Stadium, 2020, Week 2 primetime debut
- Los Angeles Rams: SoFi Stadium, 2020, Week 1 primetime debut
- Atlanta Falcons: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, 2017, Week 2 primetime debut
- Minnesota Vikings: U.S. Bank Stadium, 2016, Week 2 primetime debut
- San Francisco 49ers: Levi’s Stadium, 2014, Week 2 primetime debut

The 2006 Cardinals were the last team to open a new stadium without a primetime game to kick things off. They hosted three straight late afternoon window games before a Week 6 primetime game.
My friend Nick Suss at the Tennessean said it best last week: There are many things that Titans fans think the league is disrespecting them for on a national level. And a lot of those things aren’t actually sleights. But if New Nissan Stadium doesn’t open in primetime, that would be a real one.
