Bears have just one unlikely opportunity to finally exercise their demons against Aaron Rodgers before he hangs it up
Aaron Rodgers made a career out of “owning” the Chicago Bears during his time with the Green Bay Packers and there’s only one unlikely chance the Bears have to finally get their revenge once and for all.
After all of the “will he, won’t he” drama, Aaron Rodgers is officially returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers for the 2026 season and Chicago Bears fans probably still have nightmares about what he did to this franchise.
Well, Bears fans that are still afraid of Rodgers got some good news on Wednesday when the future Hall of Fame quarterback revealed that this upcoming season will be his final year playing in the NFL.
Last season, Rodgers dodged playing against the Bears at Soldier Field when Chicago hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12. Rodgers was a game-time decision that week due to a small fracture in his left wrist but he ended up sitting out before returning the following game.
With the Steelers not on the Bears’ regular season schedule in 2026, Bears fans might have seen the last of Rodgers, who won each of his last eight games against the Bears while holding a 25-5 career record against Chicago. However, there’s one unlikely path that could pit these two against one another one final time.
Super Bowl LXI would be the final chance for the Chicago Bears to beat Aaron Rodgers one last time
Rodgers isn’t returning for one last season without Super Bowl hopes in mind and it’s fitting that he’s reuniting with his former head coach Mike McCarthy, who helped Rodgers reach his only career Super Bowl.
As unlikely as it is to predict Super Bowl matchups, Super Bowl LXI is the only chance for the Bears to finally beat Rodgers before he hangs up the cleats for good and gets ready to head to Canton (saying this is actually his swan song).
I mean, who wouldn’t want to see this Super Bowl matchup. Rodgers on his last leg gunning for one last ring with his bitter rival standing in his way led by a quarterback in Caleb Williams who grew up modeling his game after the Packers legend.
“He’s one of the best in the world, and he’s been one of the best in the world for however long he’s been in the league,” Williams said of Rodgers last season. “You always want to go versus the best when you play.”
Williams missed out on that opportunity last year and he’ll only get one final opportunity to face Rodgers on the biggest stage of them all if both quarterbacks can lead their respective teams to the Super Bowl. Again, it’s unlikely, but anything can truly happen. And what better way to send Rodgers packing than with a Super Bowl loss.
