Robinson graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy last Friday. He’s officially a member of the Marine Corps as well as the Bengas’ youngest interior defensive lineman.
Graduating from college, let alone a service academy, is a great excuse for missing practice. For Robinson, he’s wired to put in all the work. He proved that in his first day back.
Landon Robinson explains his long day of practice
Cincinnati was back to the practice fields Tuesday despite rainfall throughout the Queen City. Robinson missed a few workouts last week when he was back in Annapolis, Maryland for the ceremony.
It’s why he stayed on the field to put in a few more reps to make up for lost time.
“You’ve got to put the extra work in,” Robinson told Dan Hoard. “I missed a few days last week and you’ve got to continue to get better every single day.”
Robinson was the seventh of seven picks Cincy made in the 2026 NFL Draft. The son of a diehard Bengals fan became a positive story to follow throughout the pre-draft process, especially with how much interest the club showed in him.
Landon Robinson Stats & Facts
Cincinnati’s newest defensive tackle enjoyed quite the collegiate career.
- Robinson amassed 153 total tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, and 14.5 sacks in 38 games played for Navy.
- The American Athletic Conference named Robinson the AAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2025.
- Robinson was drafted with the No. 226 pick in the seventh round of the 2026 draft.
The experience of military training and coaching is very evident, and it should help him take on the challenge of the next three months.
Robinson’s path to making the 53-man roster
Cincinnati is currently nine-deep at DT, which accounts for 10% of the current roster. That number will eventually drop to a number no higher than six when the regular season begins.
Robinson needs to elevate himself over at least three of his peers, all with NFL experience, before August ends.
Dexter Lawrence, Jonathan Allen, and B.J. Hill can be considered guaranteed locks to make the team. T.J. Slaton Jr. is also likely to stay on barring the Bengals needing his cash for additional moves.
The main battle will likely be between Robinson, and 2024 Day 2 picks Kris Jenkins Jr., and McKinnley Jackson.
Robinson has many more long days of practice ahead of him to take one of their spots. With graduation now in the rearview mirror, it’s all systems go for the 23-year old.
