Mike Tomlin has yet to start his new job for NBC, but one NFL superstar is already trying to get him to return to the NFL just months after leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers.

No matter what your opinion was of Mike Tomlin as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, one thing was a mainstay: the love from his players. It’s hard to find one player over the nearly two-decade-long run (outside of James Harrison) who had a negative thing to say about Coach Tomlin.

But it wasn’t just the Steelers’ players; it was players around the league who acknowledged Coach Tomlin and showed a desire to play for him. Well, Tomlin may be in broadcasting now, but that didn’t stop one of the league’s superstars from calling his shot with Coach T.

Mike Tomlin Facts

  • Never had a losing season in 19 years as HC of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
  • Won a Super Bowl in 2008-2009.
  • Played at William and Mary with former Bills HC Sean McDermott.

Micah Parsons tells Mike Tomlin to “keep coming north”

“We got a spot for you … just keep coming north,” Micah Parsons told Mike Tomlin ahead of game 6 of the NBA’s Western Conference Finals in San Antonio.

This isn’t the first time that Parsons has made some telling comments about Mike Tomlin. During his time with the Dallas Cowboys, before he was traded that is, Parsons said that if he left Dallas, he would go to Pittsburgh and play for Mike Tomlin.

“Parsons has no interest in playing anywhere but with the Cowboys. He said it’s important for his legacy and doesn’t want to bounce around. But if he hypothetically did go home later in his career it would be to join the Pittsburgh Steelers not the Philadelphia Eagles, partly because of Mike Tomlin.” – Clarence Hill Jr.

Would Mike Tomlin actually go back to coaching?

Now, I’m not sure that Matt LaFleur would be the biggest fan of that sentiment from Parsons, but that’s not really here or there. Because let’s be clear, the only, and I mean only way that Mike Tomlin leaves a cushy gig like NBC to return to the grind of coaching, is to be a head coach.

In the meantime, he will be a part of NBC’s Sunday Night Football, working on a weekly basis as an analyst ahead of games and traveling to locations with the set. He will be a feature every week, and the content will continue to pour out, just in a different form.
