The Las Vegas Raiders are set to start one of the most important seasons in franchise history soon. They have a few months before any actual football is played, but the vibes around the team seem as high as they can be.

But, in a similar fashion, it was the same last year. Everyone was excited about Pete Carroll because all he’s done is win. Everyone was excited for Geno Smith, who turned his career around, or so we thought. Then a disaster happened in Week 1. They won, in an ugly fashion, but it would never look that good. Not to mention, Brock Bowers was hurt from Week 1 on.

Now their best offensive player is healthy, which is extremely important for Klint Kubiak’s first year.

Brock Bowers gives an update on his health while at OTAs

“I feel great,” Bowers told reporters on Thursday at OTAs. “I mean, it feels good to be back out there, practicing at full speed, getting back into football with all the guys again. So, I mean, I had a good offseason working out, staying healthy, and trying to get back to 100%.

“Yeah, like I said, I feel great right now. I mean, I feel 100% ready to roll, excited for the season, and, yeah, last year was frustrating. First game, kind of banged my knee a little bit, so definitely wasn’t how I planned my second year to go, but a little adversity, and I’ve just got to come back stronger this year.”

Bowers is going to serve as that wide receiver one, but as a tight end. What do I mean when I say that? Well, Bowers will be the guy getting the biggest target share as long as he is healthy. He’s the best pass catcher on the team, and it’s not really close. Bowers will serve as the safety blanket for Kirk Cousins or Fernando Mendoza, a very important role.

Not only that, but it’s very important for Bowers’ sake that he is healthy. The third-year tight end is poised for a big year before becoming eligible for his first contract extension. If he has the season he had as a rookie, he will easily be in line to be the highest-paid tight end of all time.

The Raiders have a big year coming up, and with a healthy Bowers, they could be in line to win at least six games. And, who knows, maybe eight or nine if all goes well.
