Ohio State football looks to suddenly be out of the mix for an elite five-star talent following his visit to an SEC program
Ohio State was expected to have a five-star visitor in town this coming weekend. After said wideout took a visit to Texas A&M, his trip to Columbus will no longer happen.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are in a key month of June when it comes to recruiting. Ohio State just had several five-star recruits on campus a couple of days ago with players like RB David Gabriel Georges, DL Marcus Fakatou, and WR Benny Easter Jr.
This coming weekend is again set to be a weekend with a few official visitors in Columbus. Recently verbal pledge EDGE Wyatt Smith will be taking his official visit, and the Buckeyes were expected to have another big-time visitor from Florida. However, it won’t happen.
Ohio State looks to be OUT of the mix for five-star wideout from the Sunshine State
The expectation was that IMG Academy (FL) WR Eric McFarland would be in Columbus this weekend, but that’ll no longer happen. According to Jeremy Birmingham of Lettermen Row, McFarland won’t be taking an official to Columbus following a visit to Texas A&M.
With the Buckeyes not getting McFarland in for his scheduled official visit, they’re seemingly out of the mix at this point. Ohio State was an early offer for McFarland, who reclassified to the class of 2027 after being a 2028 player originally.
Along with Texas A&M, Georgia and Florida are other schools in the mix for the 5-foot-8 wideout out of Bradenton, Florida. According to 247 Sports Composite, McFarland is the No. 25 overall player and No. 5 wide receiver in the class of 2027. A major threat to make a big play at any time once he gets the ball in his hands.
Ohio State may have the perfect plan for who they want to pair with Jamier Brown
The Buckeyes already have a five-star talent committed at wide receiver with Jamier Brown as an in-state talent. We previously mentioned Easter visited last weekend and Ohio State looks to be pushing some chips in for a potential flip. Flipping a player from Texas Tech is never easy with the money they have, but the visit was noted to have gone well.
We’re in the first class for wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton after taking over for Brian Hartline. Landing two elite recruits at his position would be quite the way to assert himself in Columbus. The Buckeyes get some bad news with a visit being canceled this weekend, but more good news could be on the horizon.
