Oklahoma Sooners’ top remaining target in the 2027 recruiting class had some powerful words regarding the state of the program
The Oklahoma Sooners seem to be in a great place as a program, and their 2027 recruiting class shows it.
The Oklahoma Sooners are in a unique position right now. They have a chance to finish with one of the best, if not the best, recruiting classes in their program’s history. Adding to that, it’s even more impressive when you factor in how they’re doing it.
We live in a new era of college football where money rules all. Sure, the Sooners have some money to spend on football. After all, it is the sport they consider prestigious. However, they seem to be winning recruits over the good old-fashioned way. They are creating real relationships and making it feel the way it used to.
Four-star safety Bode Sparrow talks about the Sooners’ program
“I think kids are just seeing the rise of the program,” top 2027 target Bode Sparrow told SoonerScoop. “You get there, and it really is family-oriented. And they really care about these kids, and I think you really feel it. And I feel it just as much. I think everyone just wants to be a part of it. Norman’s a good town; it’s the SEC.
“Let’s see what they can do with one of the best classes, which — I think they have the best class in the country now. Getting Gabe, he’s a stud. They’ve told me for a while how much of a priority me and him are for them. And I was actually in the building when he committed, and everyone was going crazy, which is always cool to be there for.”
Now, are the Sooners still paying players? Yes. Everyone is paying everyone. However, Oklahoma is showing these guys that there’s more to the relationship than just some transactional value. Every recruit you have heard from, especially after they leave a visit, talks about the family feel with OU.
This is how the Sooners have the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2027 cycle. They are projected to land a few more big-time targets, too, like Ben Kolar and Sparrow himself. And, they are trying to use that momentum to swing their way for 2028.
