New report confirms speculation about David Gabriel Georges’ next move after taking official visit to Tennessee

2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges took an official visit to Tennessee this past weekend. The visit with the Vols came a week after the five-star recruit took an official visit to Ohio State.

The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Tennessee Vols are the clear frontrunners for 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.

But they aren’t the only two programs involved in the Quebec native’s recruitment.

Gabriel Georges, who took official visits to Ohio State and Tennessee the last two weekends, has official visits planned to Ole Miss and Georgia the next two weekends before he enters decision mode (his commitment date is currently scheduled for July 22).

There’s been some speculation that Gabriel Georges won’t take the visits to Ole Miss and Georgia.

New report says David Gabriel Georges is still planning to take the visit to Ole Miss

According to a report from On3’s Zach Berry, Gabriel Georges is still planning to take his visit to Oxford this weekend.

One big reason is because Gabriel Georges has some former teammates who currently play for Ole Miss.

“Despite all the noise surrounding the Buckeyes and the Volunteers, Ole Miss is still a factor in this recruitment, per a source,” noted Berry. “Gabriel Georges’ best friend from Baylor School and former backfield mate, Shekai Mills-Knight, is in Oxford now. And, fellow Baylor School alum Brycen Sanders returns for another year as the starting center for the Rebels.”

The visit to Georgia is also still on as planned, but that could change at any time. The Bulldogs already have a commitment from 2027 five-star running back Kemon Spell, so it doesn’t make much sense for Georgia to use resources on an official visit for a player who isn’t a match (the caveat here is that UGA may want to bring DGG in to build a relationship in case he enters the transfer portal down the road).

“I don’t see Georgia bringing him in,” said VolQuest’s Austin Price Tuesday on 104.5 The Zone’s Ramon and Will. “Even if he intends to (visit UGA), they have Kemon Spell. I don’t think I’m rocking that boat at all if I’m Georgia. It doesn’t make any sense.”

It’s probably not fair to completely write off Ole Miss in this battle. Gabriel Georges seems like he’s being as thorough as possible in this process, so I’m sure he’ll give the Rebels his full attention. They’ll have a chance to impress him this weekend and change his mind.

But this has been viewed as a two-team race for a while. I think it’s most likely that the Ole Miss visit will serve as a palate cleanser for Gabriel Georges before he makes his final decision.
