‘I don’t think it’s even a thought with these guys’ – Vols insider shares the latest Chaz Coleman update for the second week of June
Is the Chaz Coleman situation ever going to be resolved at Tennessee? No seems to have that answers, but VolQuest’s Brent Hubbs shared the latest on the bizarre saga this week.
What’s going on with Chaz Coleman and the Tennessee Vols?
That’s a question that’s been asked ad nauseam over the last couple of months.
And there aren’t really any new answers.
Coleman, who missed most of spring practice, is still technically part of the team, but no one expects him to play for Tennessee this fall.
So when is this bizarre saga going to be resolved?
VolQuest’s Brent Hubbs shares the latest update on Chaz Coleman
VolQuest’s Brent Hubbs joined WNML’s SportsTalk on Tuesday and shared the latest on Coleman, who returned to Knoxville late last month.
There wasn’t really any new information to share, but since this situation is still up in the air, I figured it would be ideal to share the update from Hubbs so everyone knows the latest.
“I don’t think it’s lingering (over the team), because he’s not doing anything,” said Hubbs. “He’s not in and out and around (the team), so I don’t think anything’s changed. My viewpoint of Chaz’s impact this fall remains that I don’t see him being a factor with things this fall.
“He’s not doing the things he needs to do to get ready to play this season. I mean, physically, I don’t know how he would be able to play. He’s just not put in any work at this point in time. So to me, nothing has changed there. I don’t have a definitive timeline on anything. But as I said last week, I don’t think it has any negative bearing on this football team that he’s not around. I don’t think it’s even a thought with these guys that are there showing up to work every day — because he’s just not been a part of what they do.”
If Coleman isn’t going to be a part of Tennessee’s football team this fall — and the full expectation is that he won’t be — I’m not sure what’s taking so long for this deal to be resolved.
We know Tennessee is trying to handle this situation in the correct way due to Coleman’s off-the-field personal issues, but it seems clear that he has no interest in being part of the team at this point.
The good news for Tennessee fans, though, is that based on Hubbs’ comments, this isn’t something that’s impacting the current team in any way.
