Former Tennessee coach Butch Jones is back at it again this summer with the silliness he’s always been known for
No one loves Butch Jones quite like Butch Jones, and we saw that in action again this week with the former Tennessee Volunteers head coach.
No one loves bragging about routine accomplishments quite like former Tennessee Vols head coach Butch Jones.
Whether it’s winning nine games in back-to-back seasons at Tennessee in 2015 and 2016 (no, Butch, those weren’t two of the best seasons in 20 years at UT), or the famous “championship of life” quote, there’s no shortage of Butch-isms to go around. The man simply loves to prop up any accomplishment he can.
So it should be no surprise that Jones, who is 26-37 over the last five seasons as the head coach at Arkansas State (to be fair to him, it’s tough to build a roster in the Sun Belt right now because of the transfer portal), is bragging about the largest turnout ever for one of his football camps.
I’m not throwing shade at the camp — I hope every kid that went grew as an athlete and as a person. And maybe we shouldn’t poke fun at Butch for this, but I just can’t help but chuckle at how he finds a way to always make it about Butch.
I mean, can you imagine Josh Heupel greenlighting this graphic? No chance.
Butch is gonna Butch, it’s just his style.
