Dallas Cowboys finally use final roster spot with creative signing as mandatory minicamp kicks off
The Dallas Cowboys’ latest free agency signing finally gets them to 91 players, the maximum allowed for the offseason. And they once again went to the UFL well to make it happen.
The Dallas Cowboys are finally using their final roster spot as mandatory minicamp kicks off. And unsurprisingly, they’re doing so with a little bit of a creative free agency signing as they’re adding yet another player from the UFL.
Cowboys sign UFL offensive lineman
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Cowboys are signing 26-year old offensive lineman Chris Glaser. The signing puts the Cowboys at 91 players, their limit including the spot they’re using on international player DL Adeyayo Odeleye.
Glaser is actually a former Cowboys. At least technically. He spent a little over a week on the Cowboys practice squad back in 2023, when he was a second-year player in the NFL. From there, he was poached by the New York Jets.
Most recently, Glaser played in the Chicago Bears (2024) and Columbus Aviators (2026) of the UFL.
Despite his young age, Glaser arrives at Dallas with experience. He was a four-year starter at Virginia, where he lined up at guard.
Where does Glaser fit on the Cowboys’ depth chart?
While many will be quick to dismiss Glaser’s chances because he comes from the UFL, the Cowboys have a promising track record betting on “spring league” players. KaVontae Turpin and Brandon Aubrey are the prime examples.
With that being said, it will be an uphill battle for Glaser. The Cowboys have a deep group of offensive linemen, with T.J. Bass leading the pack at guard. Consider him a roster longshot going into minicamp.
Speaking of which, the Cowboys kick off a three-day mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. After that, they’ll take a break prior to training camp, which is starting in late July.
