Kalen DeBoer confirms growing suspicion about Alabama Crimson Tide’s 2027 recruiting class ahead of final summer OV weekend

The Alabama Crimson Tide doesn’t have a lot of commits in the 2027 class, but according to Kalen DeBoer, what you see on paper doesn’t tell the story, and we could be seeing a major change in the numbers as soon as this weekend.

Quality over quantity has been the saying in Tuscaloosa this summer. That is widely used to refer to the Alabama Crimson Tide’s 2027 recruiting class, which is top-heavy with stars but shallow in depth, especially after a surprising flip from Kenneth Simon last weekend.

But if you ask Kalen DeBoer, he’s not very worried about the lack of hard commits ahead of 2027. In fact, he gave everyone a peek behind the curtain and confirmed what many have started to wonder about the class as a whole.

  • DL Avrian “AJ” Pauley (3-star)
  • TE Michael Nnabuife (3-star)
  • TE Oakley Keegan (3-star)
  • Kicker Luke Cody
  • RB Tai Phillips (3-star)

Kalen DeBoer hints at unknown commits for Alabama Crimson Tide

“Good number of guys, another big weekend this weekend,” DeBoer said at the Mobile Sports Hall of Fame Banquet. “Expect some more guys that haven’t announced that we are aware of will be with us.”

Alabama is going to play host for the final time this summer as the Crimson Tide prepares for its final official visits weekend at the Capstone. Eight three-star or higher commits will be in Tuscaloosa, and it seems like Alabama will be securing a few more commitments. If you have paid attention to their actions and words, that’s all Alabama is really looking for.

Kalen DeBoer is looking for the “right” players

“And so just getting the right guys, I mean, that’s really what it’s about,” DeBoer added. “It’s getting the right players in. I think we did a good job of that the first couple years we were here. It shows up in their playmaking on the football field. We’ve played a lot of young guys that started on the field as freshmen or became starters or played starter reps… and looking for the development of those guys to pay off here this year.”

“The guys that we bring in need to fill the gaps that we have and what we expect with graduation, guys to the NFL. And so, you know, I think our staff does a great job of really sorting through it and coming up with the right people to fit our program and make our culture even stronger.”
