Chicago Bears tight end Colston Loveland has had a very different offseason experience this year compared to last offseason going into his rookie season in the NFL.

After undergoing offseason shoulder surgery to repair an injury suffered in his final season at Michigan, Loveland missed the majority of the offseason program with the Bears and started training camp behind the curve compared to his teammates.

That didn’t stop Loveland from finishing the year as the team’s top pass catcher. Now, he’s had a full offseason to improve ahead of his second season. And that will continue into his summer break with this latest announcement.

Chicago Bears Colston Loveland and other Bears TEs expected to attend Tight End University next week

Loveland will be attending Tight End University next week, an annual TE summit held by Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Greg Olsen that aims to connect some of the top tight ends in the game with some of the rising stars.

Everyone comes away from this event learning something new from working alongside one another. Last year, Loveland was not able to attend, but former Bears tight end Durham Smythe was there.

This time around, Loveland will be down in Nashville, Tennessee for the three-day event and he’s not the only Chicago tight end expected to be in attendance. Nicholas Moreano shared that rookie tight end Sam Roush and Qadir Ismail are also confirmed to attend.

Other top tight ends on the list to attend include: Isaiah Likely, Tucker Kraft, Kyle Pitts, Dallas Goedert, T.J. Hockenson, Sam LaPorta, Trey McBride, Brock Bowers, and many more.

Tight End University will be great experience for Colston Loveland and Sam Roush

It’s becoming a major event for young players and veterans to attend during the break between the offseason program and the start of training camp. For Loveland, a player capable of becoming the league’s top tight end, this will be a big week for him to work with the likes of Kelce, Kittle, Bowers, and McBride and understand the work it takes to be among the league’s best.

“I think for example in the run game, it’s like a stalemate or just hanging on,” Loveland said when asked about the areas he’d like to improve. “The runner’s not getting touched, I’m doing my job technically, but it’s not good enough to put on tape. I think you need to put dominant and real good stuff on tape, really dominating someone, moving someone. I think that’s the next step.”

This is event is also going to be big for Roush, the team’s third-round rookie. Roush is already a standout blocker at the position and can spend next week honing his receiving and route running skills to become a more complete weapon by the time he returns for the start of training camp.
