Tennessee Vols athletic director Danny White was in Blacksburg on Wednesday to support his brother, Brian, who was introduced as Virginia Tech’s new athletic director.

During the introductory press conference, Brian was asked about the possibility of scheduling a series between Tennessee and Virginia Tech in football.

The two teams, which are separated by just 230 miles, last played each other in 2016 in the Battle at Bristol. They’ve played nine times in total, with the Vols leading the series 6-3.

When Brian was asked about the two teams playing, Danny jokingly got out of his seat and pretended to run out of the room.

As for Brian’s response?

“I think Danny’s available for Q&A after this session, let’s put him on the spot,” said Brian to a roomful of laughter.

The Roanoke Times actually asked Danny the same question ahead of the introductory press conference, and the Tennessee athletic director offered a similar response.

“I don’t know. Brian’s a hard negotiator,” said Danny.

Perhaps we’ll see a home and home between Tennessee and Virginia Tech in the not too distant future, or maybe the Battle at Bristol part II.
