NFL analyst has a lazy take that many Kansas City Chiefs fans may be tired of seeing when it comes to the free agent market
The Kansas City Chiefs are ready for the 2026 season already, and they won’t be signing free agent WR Tyreek Hill anytime soon.
It’s that time of the year — the dead period when we start seeing really bad takes because there’s nothing better to do. In the case of the Kansas City Chiefs, the takes are coming.
Now, those takes could be about the team never winning another Super Bowl again. Or that Patrick Mahomes will never be the same. There’s the one that Andy Reid won’t be coaching a winning football team, all of those things. We hear those often, but that’s not the bad takes I’ll be talking about today. No, this is one that Chiefs fans are probably tired of seeing, and it’s just lazy. A recent NFL analyst says that Kansas City should sign Tyreek Hill.
CBS Sports analyst suggests Chiefs sign WR Tyreek Hill
“While they don’t necessarily need another receiver, the Chiefs could nonetheless add Hill to a receiving corps headlined by Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. Hill, after all, won a Super Bowl in Kansas City and has a rapport with Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. The Chargers and Bills also make sense for Hill, who is hoping to revive his career after a serious knee injury sidelined him for most of the 2025 season. Both teams have elite quarterbacks and wide receiver groups that could use a boost.” – Bryan DeArdo, CBS Sports
The Chiefs do need a tiny bit of help in the WR room, but only because there’s no real evidence that suggests they can rely on Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy for an entire season. However, if both guys are healthy and all is right on offense, those two can carry the load. The depth is good in the room, too.
As for Hill, who’s to say he will be the same player that he was before? I’m willing to bet he isn’t, given how severe his injury was. Hill dislocated his kneecap, which also tore his ACL. It’s a nasty injury that can change a player. Or, a freak athlete like him can be the same player he once was.
But, if there is any chance he loses that speed and burst he is so known for, then there’s not much other reason to roster him at this stage of his career. And, who’s to say Hill will even be ready to play this season?
This take and opinion are lazy because they’re the same ones everyone is saying. It’s the easy one to connect to, even though there’s not a huge chance this happens. The Chiefs shouldn’t bring in an aging WR with knee issues when that could hinder the development of the very young room they have now.
